Welcome to our Stress Lab!
Stress is the common theme of the research conducted in our Stress Lab. It can cause psychological and physiological changes, which, in the short run, allow us to adapt advantageously to the current situation. In the long run, however, these changes can lead to pathological malfunctions.
In our Stress Lab we aim to investigate the mechanisms of stress-related disorders using different methods and strategies from numerous fields of research. Hence, we combine psychological measurements, peripheral physiological stressmarkers (such as the Hypothalamus pituitary adrenal (HPA) axis, the autonomic nervous system and the immune system) as well as the latest technology of functional genome analysis.
Not only do we use different established methods, we also aim to develop, evaluate and establish new methods to investigate psychological and physiological reactions to stress.
Researching the underlying biological mechanisms leads to improved diagnostics and classifications in addition to the development of successful therapeutic interventions such as stress-management-Training, music-therapy-interventions and sport-therapy-interventions.
