Our Testing Rooms: Lazarus, Kirschbaum, Cannon and Selye

These four laboratory testing rooms are named after the four influential stress researchers Richard Lazarus, Clemens Kirschbaum, Walter Cannon and Hans Selye. We use these rooms to conduct experimental studies such as the Trier Social Stress Test (TSST) and the Trier Social Stress Test for Groups (TSST-G).

Location of our TRs Lazarus (O1.45), Kirschbaum (O1.43), Cannon (O1.42) and Selye (O1.48): First floor on the right, Liebiggasse 5, A-1010 Vienna

Our Testing Rooms: Mozart, Haydn and Beethoven

Named after the three famous composers Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Franz Joseph Haydn and Ludwig van Beethoven, who all played an important role in the Viennese Classical Era, these three laboratory testing rooms are mainly used by the Music and Health Lab to conduct experimental studies. Some of these rooms are also used to prepare for and to conduct other studies such as ecological momentary assessment (EMA) studies. Read more about our Music and Health Lab here.

Location of our TRs Mozart (1K.58), Haydn (1K.57) and Beethoven (1K.56): Basement on the right, Liebiggasse 5, A-1010 Vienna

Our Testing Rooms: McEwen and Mason

Bruce Sherman McEwen and John Wayne Mason have both made great contributions to the field of stress research through their work. These two testing rooms are used as a waiting room for participants and to conduct experimental studies such as the Trier Social Stress Test (TSST), respectively.

Location of our TRs Mason (1OG-05) and Mc Ewen (1OG-07): Biochemical Lab (BCL), First Floor, Campus-Vienna-Biocenter 2, A-1030 Vienna

Our Biochemical Lab

Our own laboratory facilities allow us to investigate research questions from a multi-disciplinary perspective. Our professional personnel is concerned with the analysis of biochemical analytes of the endocrine, autonomic and immune system for which we use only state-of-the-art equipment. Thus, we analyse diverse human stress and immune markers, as present in for example saliva, blood and hair. Furthermore, we use special equipment to assess parameters of the autonomic nervous System, such as heart rate variability and electrodermal activity. Read more about our biochemical lab here.
